About Us
Established in 1956, Dimensional® Plastics Corporation is a pioneer in the development and manufacturing of decorative Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP) for both commercial and residential applications. As a proven alternative to stained glass, we offer our clients beauty, strength and security for a fraction of the price. We have been recognized as Best Product by Builder News Magazine and have received numerous awards from such organizations as the Association of Interior Designers and Society of the Plastics Industry.
Our company President Sir S. Ronald Barnette, a WWII bomber pilot, holds more than a dozen Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights for his many innovative polymer products. He is the inventor of KRINKLGLAS®, which first gained widespread public notice at the U.S. Pavilion for the 1964 New York World's Fair by utilizing more than 64,000 square feet of the material. Since then it has gained a loyal following among architects and designers who value its unique ability to replicate the luminescent beauty and rich, deep colors of traditional stained glass while withstanding both manmade (stones, paint, graffiti, etc.) and natural hazards (hurricane winds, extreme heat and cold). Key company staff are as follows:
President - Sir S. Ronald Barnette, KHOSJ, IDSA General Manager - Jorge Morales Staff Artists - Augusto Zambrana and Sandy Montes
Located in Hialeah, Florida, just north of Miami, Dimensional® Plastics Corporation is the sole U.S manufacturer of KRINKLGLAS®. Green Advantages
With the onset of Green Philosophies and consumers looking to “Go Green”, many have asked us: “Is KRINKLGLAS® eco-friendly?” The answer is Yes! KRINKLGLAS® and other Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products actually have many environmental benefits, from the embodied energy required to create it, to its recycled content, to efforts the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is putting into creating a method to recycle it, and more.
A percentage of a fiberglass product is in fact glass, and glass is made largely from an abundant resource: sand and gravel - so there's an endless supply and these components are non-toxic! This cuts down on the transportation and fossil fuel required to gather the materials to manufacture it. Fiberglass is also long-lasting which, in some cases, can be re-used once the structure they are installed in has reached its end.
But the manufacturing process is just one of the many benefits. The framing materials used in a fiberglass window cut down on the energy used in a home or building due to its superior insulating value and air leakage is minimal because there is no expanding and contracting. It actually has twice the insulating value of wood! According to the EPA, it contributes to higher R-Values and lower U-Factors. The reason that is a big deal is because 50% of our nations electric energy is in buildings. With the upcoming New ENERGY STAR® requirements scheduled to come out soon, these factors will become even more important as architects, contractors and interior designers look towards FRP Panels as a way to keep construction costs low.
An Ancient Indian Proverb states: “We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.” As manufacturers of KRINKLGLAS® and other FRP products, Dimensional® Plastics,Corp. strongly believes in that philosophy. We proudly support the Green Initiative and will continue to do our part in ensuring a better world for our children.
