Dimensional Plastics Corporation

windows doors walls lighting Sir S. Ronald Barnette, founder of Dimensional Plastics, inventor of Krinklglas

Manufactured by Dimensional® Plastics Corporation of Hialeah, Florida, Krinklglas faithfully replicates the rich beauty of stained glass in a material that is lighter in weight, more economical and, most important, more durable. For the first time in the 2,000-year history of stained glass, the expensive glass of kings and cathedrals is now affordable and practical in a wide variety of applications.

Credit for the invention of Krinklglas goes to Sir S. Ronald Barnette, the founder of Dimensional Plastics, who holds more than a dozen patents for innovative polymer products. Krinklglas first gained widespread public notice at the U.S. Pavilion for the 1964 New York World's Fair, which used more than 64,000 square feet of the material. Since then it has gained a loyal following among architects and designers who value its unique ability to replicate the luminescent beauty and rich, deep colors of traditional stained glass while withstanding both manmade and natural hazards.

That durability is one of the factors that distinguishes Krinklglas from traditional stained glass. Krinklglas windows are able to withstand impacts from wind-borne debris and projectiles such as stones, bricks and bottles without shattering, and have been tested to meet the most rigorous building code requirements including the Dade County Building Code test (Large Missile Impact and Cyclic Wind Pressure tests).

Krinklglas panels are offered in more than 30 standard single colors, as well as multi-colors and custom colors. Panels can be designed to incorporate a variety of specialty patterns including black lines and mosaics in both freeform and geometric patterns. Standard panel sizes up to 5 feet by 10 feet are available. Manufactured in 1/8 inch, 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch thicknesses, the panels are easily installed using standard framing or mounting techniques. No special glazing procedures, framing extrusions, tape or mastic is needed, and standard construction-grade silicone sealant will provide leak protection while allowing for normal expansion and contraction.

All Krinklglas panels are custom-made with UV inhibitors, and warranted against manufacturing defects. They are also warranted against severe color fading for five years. Founded in 1956, Dimensional Plastics Corp. produces more than 20 award-winning products which are sold and distributed worldwide.
